Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Accessibility / Traveling with a Disability
Are there designated parking spaces for people with disabilities? There are special, free parking spaces right next to the valley station. Please follow the signs to the valley station parking lot (enter “Steinbruchgasse 4” into your GPS), turn right before the parking lot, and follow the signs. There are several parking spaces for people with a disability permit; three of them are suitable for minibuses.
Are restrooms available for people with disabilities?Separately designated restrooms for people with disabilities are available at both the mountain and valley stations. The restrooms can be opened with the EuroKey. If you are unable to do so, please contact our staff.
Is it possible to take a stroll through the Alpine Wildlife Park with a stroller, wheelchair, or if you have limited mobility?Due to the steep incline and the condition of the trail, we do not recommend this hike for those with strollers, wheelchairs, or limited mobility. The upper section near the main entrance to the Alpine Wildlife Park is almost entirely flat and accessible. From here, you can see the ibex, mouflons, and wild boars, as well as dwarf goats and hares in the summer. Parts of the expansive deer enclosure can be viewed from the nearly terrace of the mountain lodge or from the lake overlook.
Is the Pfänder Cable Car accessible to people with disabilities? The Pfänderbahn is accessible. For more information, please visit the “Accessibility” page.
The mountain area, which features a playground, an Alpine wildlife park, viewing terraces, and panoramic mountain views, is only partially accessible to people with disabilities. The lake view and the ground floor of the Berghaus Pfänder (Lodge) are each accessible via a ramp. Accessible restrooms are located at both the valley and mountain stations! The seminar room at the Pfänder is accessible.
Cable Car Ride
Do companions of people with disabilities have to pay for a ticket?People with a degree of disability of 70% or more and a registered “B” in their pass receive a discount; the accompanying person also pays the reduced price.
Are bicycles/bicycle trailers transported on the cable car?Bicycles and bicycle trailers are transported all day. From 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. this is free of charge; after 10:00 a.m. transport costs €14.80 per bicycle and per trailer, each way.
Please note that we do not transport downhill bikes. Downhill biking is prohibited on the Pfänder.
Do birthday children travel free on their birthday?Birthday children pay the normal fare on their birthday. Due to our wide range of discounts (seniors, families, groups, etc.), we are unfortunately unable to grant any further reduction.
Are there any costs for transporting prams/strollers?Prams are transported free of charge. Please report to the ticket office inside the building so that you receive a ticket with a passage for prams.
Are there any costs for transporting dogs?Dogs are transported free of charge but must be kept on a lead. For problem dogs or fighting dogs, we ask that a muzzle be fitted. Liability in the event of accidents lies with the dog owner. Please note that dogs are not permitted on the Wildlife Park circular trail, because many wild animals perceive dogs as a dangerous enemy and react by fleeing. This poses a considerable risk of injury and causes stress for our animals. Thank you for your understanding!
How long does the ride take and what is the difference in altitude?Depending on the travel speed, the ride with the Pfänderbahn takes approximately five to seven minutes. The speed depends on the number of guests and the weather conditions. A difference in altitude of 605 metres is covered.

The public parking spaces around the valley station are managed by the City of Bregenz, as is the multi-storey car park at the harbour. Parking is possible there, but no time credit can be granted.

The bus parking spaces are located on Reichsstraße opposite the barracks, right by the lake. A 10-minute walk to the Pfänderbahn valley station. On presentation of the receipt from our bus car park, Pfänderbahn guests are refunded the parking fee in cash for up to a maximum of 5 hours at the Pfänderbahn ticket office inside the building.Where can I park my bicycle?Bicycles can be parked at the covered bicycle racks at the valley station. Hiking
Where can I go hiking on the Pfänder? You can find information about suggested hiking routes here. There are large information boards at the valley and mountain stations. Please familiarize yourself with the trail markings in advance. Hiking maps can be purchased on-site at the ticket office.

Is it possible to hike (down into the valley) with a stroller? You can walk with a stroller on the road toward Moosegg / Jungholz, but please note that this is a public road.
We do not recommend hiking down into the valley with a stroller.
